Biography
An understanding of life through self-knowledge, awareness, and the process of working through the chapters of your life to bring about the changes you want for yourself summarize my approach to mental health and wellbeing.
Through my knowledge, educational experience, and counseling support, I provide a nonjudgmental viewpoint and compassionate guidance when it comes to each person’s situation, challenges, and character. I am an advocate of resiliency, healthy relationships, and self-esteem.
In your journey I will offer specific tools that may change your life for the better. I give each client a unique array of specific exercises and assignments that will help create a healthier you.
With my support, you can come to know yourself in ways that will bring balance and a new focus into your life. I understand the mind, the power of thought, and the individual in all its emotions in the journey to cultivating mental health. You will thrive in the humor and thoughtfulness of my style of counseling and therapy.
I am a counselor with over 40 years experience. I have a professional and personal commitment to the empowerment of clients. Assisting people to change unhelpful patterns of behavior and learn the skills they need to move forward to in their lives. You are encouraged to consider your best options and formulate plans best suited to your life goals with an understanding that attitude can make or break a person. I share a message of positive change that will impact you professionally and personally.

My education includes degrees from Southern Illinois University and Royal Roads University. I have certification in Career development assessments, EMDR, Emotional Intelligence, Cyber-Counseling (online counseling) from the University of Toronto School of Social Work among other certifications.
I have been registered with the B.C. Association of Clinical Counselors (R.C.C.) since 1987 and taught courses at Northwest Community College, University of the Fraser Valley, Royal Roads University, and for numerous public sector and private sector organizations.
I am a founding member of the Ann Davis Transition House and was the original counsellor there. My book, “The Heart of Joshua”, which was published by the University of Toronto addresses the emotional roller coaster people experience when a loved one is facing a serious chronic illness.
