Hi! I’m Deanna a Registered Clinical Counsellor in British Columbia.
Over the past 20 years I have had the privilege of working in a variety of settings with children, youth, and families. My areas of expertise include childhood trauma, grief and loss, anxiety & depression. I utilize a variety of counselling approaches including Cognitive Behaviour Therapy, Dialectical Behaviour Therapy, attachment-based models, EMDR, & mindfulness-based approaches.
I embrace a trauma-informed, client-focused, and collaborative therapy approach. I value relationship building and creating a safe therapy space without judgement to support children, youth, and families grow toward their goals
- Children of Divorce
- Trauma-including sexual abuse and violence in families
- Anxiety, depression, eating disorders, self-love/self-esteem
- Parent-child relationship repair
- Emotion-Focused Family Therapy
- Complex trauma for children with multiple attachment ruptures including adoption breakdown and children in foster care.
We now know how important a healthy mind-body connection is to optimal health and wellness outcomes and to facilitate this connection for children I incorporate art, play, and yoga into my counselling sessions. Counselling with children and youth can be a very active and dynamic process with a large focus of work on emotional regulation. Adults are an imperative piece of the wellness and regulation journey for children and are included in the counselling process.
I look forward to working with you and your family!
